What we collect
HotSpot collects your name, email address, phone number, profile details and uploaded content (such as comments and photos), precise location, and motion/activity data to operate the service. If you are a business owner, we also process your subscription and payment status. We do not use your data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Location
HotSpot uses your precise location to show nearby venues and validate check-ins. If you enable Auto Check-in, the app also uses background (“Always”) location, region monitoring, and motion/activity data to detect when you arrive at or leave a venue and check you in automatically. Background location is optional, off by default, and explained in the app before you turn it on; you can change location access at any time in iOS Settings. You control whether your check-ins are shared with friends from your Profile settings.
How we use it
We use your data to show crowd counts at venues, connect you with friends, and deliver relevant notifications. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Google data
If you connect your Google Business Profile as a business owner, HotSpot accesses only your business management data to verify ownership. We store OAuth tokens encrypted and use them solely for verification purposes.
Third parties we work with
We share data with service providers only as needed to operate HotSpot: cloud hosting and database providers, an SMS verification provider, a payment processor (for business-owner subscriptions), and sign-in providers (Apple and Google). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments. We do not sell your personal information.
Data deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the HotSpot app. Account deletion permanently removes your personal data within 30 days.
